Below are 10 of my favorite mink false eyelashes tips and hacks to make your Royal Lashness’ life easier and to help you perfect the art of real mink eyelash application:
1. Mink False Eyelashes Tips for Newbies!
One of the first and best false eyelashes tips I always give if you are totally new to applying Minki Lashes is to practice with standard cheap fake eyelashes from a drugstore first such as by Ardell or Revlon. Just like you wouldn’t drive a Ferrari without having learnt to drive a regular car first, you don’t want to compromise the luxuriously delicate Minki Lashes and splurge $37+ on a “training” pair. Using a $7 drugstore false eyelashes pair is a cost effective way to fine tune your false lash self-application skills. And hey, it’s also an excellent way to experience the difference between conventional low quality cheap fake eyelashes and luxurious Minki Lashes made of 100% authentic and cruelty-free Siberian mink fur! (Your Minki Lashes queen couldn’t resist a mini self-promo here LOL).
2. Trim from Inside or Outside?
While one of the most common false eyelashes tips related to trimming is to always shorten the eyelash band from the outer corner so the inner corner looks more natural, I would suggest that it is not true 100% of the time. And it all depends on your Minki Lashes style of choice and your individual eye shape needs. Yes, it is true that the excessive fullness of real mink false eyelashes at the inner corner of your eye would typically scream fake (if you chop off too much from the inside). However, in some cases where you only need to trim a tiny bit, you may want to shorten your natural fake eyelashes band from the side intended for your inner corner of the eye as to preserve the beautiful shagginess and dramatic length in the outer corner (lets say for a stage performance where you want more noticeable eyelashes). Similarly, in some cases trimming from both inner and outer corners might work, too.
3. Gravity’n’Glue 101!
This is one of the application-related false eyelashes tips that gets most overlooked yet it eliminates the common problem of accidentally dripping the glue onto the actual mink fur hairs or worse, your entire best fake lashes strip. Just when you are ready to apply your waterproof eyelash glue onto your best best fake lashes’ band, hold the lash strip (with tweezers or your fingers) above your tube of lash glue instead of underneath it like most people do. Why? Because when you squeeze your eyelash adhesive (held upright) from the bottom, you will have more control over its quantity and flow.
4. A Crown for the Queen!
This is one of the natural false eyelashes tips that I actually borrowed from cheap fake eyelashes’ users (hey, why not?!). Applying synthetic or human hair eyelashes typically requires toggling the lash band up up and down in a U-shape between fingers as to help the synthetic stiff lash band hug the eye shape more easily… Minki Lashes’ new more advanced cotton lash band technology eliminates the need for that step, and as long as you keep your cruelty-free Siberian mink lashes on their tray after each use, the natural curve will remain. Nevertheless, feel free to use the following easy technique in case you do ever want that extra curve to your Minki strips and because…every queen deserves a crown! Adhere both ends of your luxurious natural looking fake eyelashes to create a mini crown as shown in the picture. After a few seconds, you will notice that putting on fake eyelashes when they are severely curved in a U-shape is actually much easier than pinning down the inner and outer corners of your reusable eyelashes band when it is too straight.
5. Mirror, mirror…on the Table?
One of the easiest yet most ignored false eyelashes tips has to do with the mirror placement before your natural fake eyelashes application. Placing the mirror beneath your face instead of in front of you will greatly speed up and perfect your Siberian mink false eyelashes application as you will get a much better view of your own natural lash line and the mink lash target placement line. Use either a swivel mirror or lay a regular one-sided mirror flat on your vanity/table. Try it today and become a royal believer!
6. Rescue the Inner Corner!
Normally, the most problematic area of strip false eyelashes is the inner corner of the eye. It is there that even the best fake lashes often come off and stick out as the most movement on the eyelid from blinking and facial expressions happens right in that delicate spot. One of the best false eyelashes tips that eliminates this common problem is to take a toothpick and add a small amount of eyelash glue under the loose part of the lash base and firmly push the lash band down into the skin.
7. Extra Hold for an Extra Active Queen!
When I have an important event or a long several-hour stage performance and must feel confident knowing that no amount of facial mimics will make my Minki Lashes get loose in the inner and/or outer corners, I apply a thin layer of eyelash glue directly onto my eyelid just above my natural lash line, in inner and outer corners (I don’t do it in the middle). Using a brush-on adhesive is most comfortable for me as it already comes with a thin brush that makes it easy to draw a line of glue of a required length. Alternatively, you can spread the eyelash glue onto your eyelid corners where your natural fake eyelashes strip will sit using a toothpick. Just squeeze out a very tiny amount from your eyelash glue tube; much less than you would on the actual mink false eyelashes band during regular lash application. And don’t forget: this step is in addition to applying a regular amount of glue onto the cotton lash band. Exercise caution: do not get lash glue onto your own natural lashes or too close to the eye! Safety comes first.
8. The Old Hollywood Trick
This is one of my ‘must-do’ mink false eyelashes tips that I have now included in one of the steps on how to put on eyelashes like a Minki Lashes queen. After you are finished securing your natural looking fake eyelashes on your eyelid, roll the skin on your eyelid from the brow down onto your mink lash base line using an eye pencil or the slim rounded handle of your eye makeup brush. Your skin fold should gently cover the top line of the lash band so that it looks like your faux fringe is growing out of your lash line along with your own eyelashes. This sure is one of my favorite false eyelashes tips because I often skip the second round of eyeliner over my reusable Minki strips and I love the clean and super natural edge I get with the extra skin naturally hiding the cotton lash band.
9. The Royal Tightligning Trick
If you’ve never heard the term, allow me to introduce you to one of the best false eyelashes tips around that will surely become one of your go-to eye makeup secrets (together with your pair of luxurious Minki Lashes, of course)! “Tightlining” essentially means filling in the bare spaces between your lashes. (Sure this requires some precision as the bare spots are small, but it’s worth it!) But filling these spaces in will give the illusion of a longer lash line and eye in general, which is a life saver for my Royal Minkihlics with small eyes.
The easiest way to use the tightlining technique is to gently pull your upper lid and dot liquid eyeliner in the bare spots after applying mink false eyelashes). This will help reduce the potentially visible distance between your natural fake eyelashes and your own lash line.
10. The Royal Chapstick Curling Trick!
Lets say you’re out cruisin’ in the Atlantic ocean, you accidentally dropped your Minki natural fake eyelashes into the sink after removing them, they got wet and lost their curl and are now more straight than normal, and the eyelash curler battery ran out. What to do? Well, I do not normally recommend mink false eyelashes tips that result in altering the original manufacturer-perfected shaggy curl of the Minki Lashes, on a regular basis. However, if you do require an SOS curling solution for your best fake lashes made of 100% real mink fur, I got you covered!
Just carefully line the natural fake eyelashes band in a straight line along the length of your chapstick tube so that the upper (concave or U-shape) side of each reusable lash is faced down and the false eyelashes tips are wrapped around the surface of the chapstick tube. Next, wrap a clean piece of paper (must be non-fuzzy!) around the lash’n’chapstick to secure them. Use an elastic band to prevent the paper from unwrapping. Wait a few hours or even overnight, and voila!
(Note: be careful when using a pen or a pencil as they tend to be too slim so the curl might get way too extreme in comparison to your own natural lashes. Consider using your mascara tube instead.)
